Data Transformation

Data from traditional information systems must be modified or enhanced to meet the requirements of the data repository. For example, one simple transformation is the addition of a temporal variable specifying when the data was loaded into the repository. Other transformations could include matching up the data with external data sources. One example of an external data source would be a list of NAICS information for organizations. Few information systems store the NAICS information for customer organization. Matching this information with the transformed data would allow comparison between industry groups.
